IEEE CIS Call for Nominations
The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) is seeking nominations for the following key leadership positions (terms are in parentheses):
• President-Elect (2025), President (2026-2027)
• Vice President for Education (2025-2026)
• Vice President for Member Activities (2025-2026)
• Vice President for Publications (2025-2026)
• Five ADCOM Members-at-Large (2025-2027)
According to the CIS Bylaws, ARTICLE XII– GOVERNANCE AND ADMINISTRATION Section 35 Schedule for ADCOM Elections:
"Five ADCOM Members-at-Large are elected each year, plus any vacated positions."
"The election of President-Elect, Vice President for Education, Vice President for Member Activities, and Vice President for Publications shall take place in even-numbered years."
Eligibility requirements are defined in the CIS Bylaws, ARTICLE XIV – NOMINATIONS, ELECTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS

ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility requirements are defined in the CIS Bylaws, ARTICLE XIV – NOMINATIONS, ELECTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS,
Section 1. ADCOM Members-at-Large
(a) Eligibility – All CIS members at any IEEE grade of membership higher than Student member, who have been a member of at least one CIS committee or subcommittee during the two years prior to the election, and in good standing at the time of the election are eligible to be nominated as ADCOM Members-at-Large, except in the cases listed hereinafter.
Not more than two consecutive full terms as ADCOM Member-at-Large are permitted: eligibility is restored after a lapse of one year.
The Chairperson of the Nominations Committee is not eligible to be elected to the ADCOM during his/her term.
A candidate, whose former position in the CIS was vacated according to Art. XIII Sect. 1 Pts. (b) or (c), shall not be eligible for three years following the year in which he/she was removed from office.
A member of the Nominations Committee is not eligible to be elected to ADCOM except and unless the nominator is not a member of the Nominations Committee. The nominee must resign from the Nominations Committee prior to its first meeting of the year in which the nomination shall be made.
Section 2. Officers
(a) Eligibility for Vice Presidents – All ADCOM members, Editors-in-Chief, Standing Committee Chairpersons, Technical Committee Chairpersons, and Industrial and Governmental Committee Chairpersons who
- held at least one of these positions for at least one year during the five years prior to the year of the election,
- are IEEE Graduate Student Members or higher-grade members in good standing at the time of the election,
and
- are CIS members in good standing at the time of the election,
are eligible to be nominated as Vice President, except in the cases listed hereinafter.
Each Vice President, with the exception of the Vice President for Finances, may serve a maximum of two consecutive full terms in such a vice presidency; eligibility is restored after a lapse of one year.
The Chairperson of the Nominations Committee is not eligible to be nominated as a Vice President during his/her term.
A member of the Nominations Committee is not eligible to be nominated as a Vice President, unless the nomination is not made by a member of the Nominations Committee and the member resigns from the Nominations Committee prior to its first meeting of the year in which the nomination shall be made.
A candidate, whose former position in the CIS was vacated according to Art. XIII Sect. 1 Pts.(b) or (c), shall not be eligible for three years following the year in which he/she was removed from office.
(b) Eligibility for President-Elect – All ADCOM members and Editors-in-Chief, who
- held at least one of these positions for at least one year during the five years prior to the year of the election,
- are IEEE Graduate Student Members or higher-grade members in good standing at the time of the election,
and
- are CIS members in good standing at the time of the election, are eligible to be nominated as President-Elect, except in the cases listed hereinafter.
The President is not eligible during the first two years immediately after the termination of his/her presidency.
The Chairperson of the Nominations Committee is not eligible to be nominated as President- Elect during his/her term.
A member of the Nominations Committee is not eligible to be nominated as President-Elect, unless the nomination is not made by a member of the Nominations Committee and the member resigns from the Nominations Committee prior to its first meeting of the year in which the nomination shall be made.
A candidate, whose former position in the CIS was vacated according to Art. XIII Sect. 1 Pts. (b) or (c), shall not be eligible for three years following the year in which he/she was removed from office.
The Nominations Committee reminds CIS members that additional nominations may be made by CIS voting members. For each elective office of the Society, individual voting members eligible to vote in such election may nominate candidates either by a written petition or by majority vote at a nomination meeting of the Society, provided such nominations are made at least 28 days before the date of election. The number of signatures required on a petition shall be determined in accordance with IEEE Bylaws as follows. For all positions where the electorate is less than 30,000 voting members, signatures shall be required from 2% of the eligible voters. For further details, please see the CIS Bylaws.
For every position, a nominee must satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned above and further explained in the CIS Constitution and Bylaws. Each nominator and the nominee must check the detailed eligibility conditions as provided in the CIS Bylaws available at:

SUBMISSION OF NOMINATIONS
This is the official call for nominations for the above vacancies. The nominee needs to accept to serve in the position if he/she is selected and to prepare a position statement as part of the nomination package which should include the following materials:
For the positions of the Vice-Presidents and President-Elect : (a) a brief CV of no more than two pages; (b) a position statement of no more than one page, explaining nominee's vision about how to improve upon CIS Education activities/Member Activities activities/Publications activities (depending on the position the nomination is made for), and how this will contribute to CIS's overall growth and serve members' needs; (c) challenges faced by the society and nominee’s ideas of tackling them; (d) a list of previous volunteering experience within CIS, IEEE, and other professional organizations, and relevant achievements. (No more than one page); and (e) commitment to serve in the position if elected.
For ADCOM Members at Large: (a) A brief CV (no more than two pages); (b) a brief write-up explaining the nominee's general vision about CIS, challenges faced by the society and how to tackle them, and his/her objectives. (no more than one page);(c) a list of previous volunteering experience within CIS, IEEE, and other professional organizations, and relevant achievements. (No more than one page); (d) a position statement (no more than one page), and (e) Commitment to serve if elected.
The nomination materials should clearly specify the position for which the nomination is made.
The mere satisfaction of the minimum eligibility by a nominee does not guarantee that the nominee will be on the ballot. The list of candidates for inclusion in the ballot will depend on the judgment of the nomination committee based on nomination materials.
