IEEE CIS Student Participation and Travel Grant – Instructions

The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Student Participation and Travel Grant Program offers a limited number of grants to assist IEEE Student Members presenting papers at IEEE CIS-sponsored conferences.

Applications for each conference must be received through the Grant Application System no later than the posted deadline which are provided by the respective conferences. IEEE CIS reserves the right not to process late or incomplete applications.

Participation grants are provided for online participation at virtual or hybrid conferences, where we waive the registration fees for you.

Travel grants are offered for face-to-face or hybrid conferences. We offer a fixed amount of traveling reimbursement.

For the application, the following information is required:

  • You should be a student (PhD, graduate, or undergraduate).
  • You should be a student member of IEEE and member of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.
  • You should be the author or co-author of an accepted paper in the conference with at least 50% contribution, attend the conference and present the paper.
  • A letter from the student's supervising professor on university letterhead that certifies that
    • the student carries at least 50% of a normal full-time academic program as a registered undergraduate, graduate or PhD student in a regular course of study.
    • and the student is the major contributor to the paper and approximately what was the student's contribution in percent to the paper. In the event that the student is the sole author of the paper, this is not needed.

 

Students who receive the grants may be requested to volunteer to assist the conference management team. Duties may include assisting with registration, ticket acceptance, audio-visual requirements, and other conference matters. It is not expected that this volunteering will interfere with any student's opportunity to attend most of the technical sessions, nor with presenting their own paper at the meeting. Details will be available at the conference.

Only one student author per paper will be awarded a grant and a student can receive only one grant per year.



IEEE CIS Conference Participation and Travel Grant Program for Researchers from Developing Countries - Instructions

The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Conference Participation and Travel Grant Program for Researchers from Developing Countries offers a very limited number of participation grants to assist higher-grade IEEE members presenting papers at IEEE CIS-sponsored conferences.

Participation grants are provided for online participation at virtual or hybrid conferences, where we waive the registration fees for you.

Travel grants are offered for face-to-face or hybrid conferences. We offer a fixed amount of traveling reimbursement.

Applications for each conference must be received through the Grant Application System no later than the posted deadline on the respective conference webpage. IEEE CIS reserves the right not to process late or incomplete applications.

To receive a grant the applicant must:

  • Be a member of IEEE and IEEE Computational Intelligence Society prior to submitting the participation grant application. Student members are not eligible for this program and should instead consider the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Student Grant Program.
  • Be the author or co-author of an accepted paper in the conference, attend the conference and present the paper.
  • Have contributed to at least 50% of the paper presented.
  • Be an IEEE member at the time of the application and attest by an honor-bound signature that the conference registration fee would pose an economic hardship on the applicant, such that they would be unable to attend the conference without the support of the participation grant (to be submitted under the "Funding Justification Letter" field).

Only one author per paper will be awarded a participation grant from this program and a member can receive only one grant per year.



General Instructions

All of these paper documents must be submitted through the Grant Application System. No information needs to be mailed.

Complete applications will only be accepted after paper decisions have been made. Please, apply as soon as you find out that your paper has been accepted. Please, note that there is no need to send proof of IEEE and IEEE CIS membership as membership will be verified in the IEEE member database.
